About Calamus Mom
Why the name “Calamus Mom“?
Two reasons. First, my home is right on the Calamus River in Nebraska in the very house my grandparents lived in when I was growing up just a mile down the road. Second, Calamus is a plant that is often called “Sweet Flag,” and here at Calamus Mom, I am flying the sweet flag of motherhood and homemaking because those jobs that God has given us are a beautiful offering to him.
While you are here, you’ll find ideas to help you in your journey as a mother, encouragement for your heart, and tips to help you create a home where your family members receive rest, build relationships, and grow into the people God has created them to be.
I am the mom behind Calamus Mom.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ and seek to honor him each day in the big moments and the mundane tasks.
I married my college sweetheart while we were both still in college. He is the world’s greatest daddy, and I am blessed to travel life’s road by his side. We are almost to hit the the decade mark in our marriage, officially being married for 1/3 of our lives.
I am in the middle of young motherhood right now with my little posse; they are five, three, and one. There is no place they would rather be than outside so it is a huge blessing that we live at the end of the road where we can enjoy the great outdoors to the fullest. All three of them love animals and help out with the chickens, dogs, and pony.
I am a lover of books, homemade caramel lattes, morning solitude, and all shades of blue. I like to dabble in photography and crafty things when I’m not knee deep in laundry, chasing my posse, or taking care of our puppies.
It is my hope that you will find encouragement and inspiration for your intentional journey, no matter what point you are at right now. I always love to hear from you, so be sure to contact me or connect with me on Facebook or Pinterest.
